Wrinkle-free Face-What's the Cost Effective Way?

There are many aspects to the aging process. As our body matures, things happen both on the inside and the outside, effecting our health, thoughts and appearance.

Most of us appreciate the wisdom that comes with age, yet dread the physical changes in the body. When it comes to appearance, it seems that women in particular, though not only, are extremely concerned with the signs of aging.

Hair Color

Some of the measures used to conceal one's age are relatively simple. For instance, coloring your hair gels and serums promised to camouflage, slow-down, and in some cases even reverse the signs of time. Some of them may be helpful, but their effectiveness seems to be limited. Some creams will make your skin smoother and tighter "for a few hours at a time, while others may require months, and even years of constant use.

In terms of cost, expect to pay anything from a few dozens to hundreds and even thousands of dollars a month. Prices do vary, and so does the frequency of application. You should take it all into account when calculating the actuallong-term cost of any of these creams.

Facial Fillers and Botox Injections-

The next line of defense has become quite popular in the past decade or two. It comprises of cosmetic procedures-usually performed by a plastic surgeon or an otherwise licensed practitioner-during which certain materials are injected into the face. There are two types of injections:

1. Soft tissue fillers, where wrinkles are literally sealed up with substances such as collagen, Hyaluronic acid or fat. These injections firm up the skin and smooth out wrinkles, even relatively deep ones.

2. Botox shots, where botolinum toxin is used to paralyze certain groups of facial muscles to lessen the effect of certain types of wrinkles.

So, what are the costs involved? According to theAmerican Society of Plastic surgery, patients paid anything between $ 500 and $ 1500 for botox injections and filler in 2007. Keep in mind that the effect of these injections is limited in time. In particular, botox shots, which are on the cheaper end of this scale, need to be repeated every few months.

Plastic Surgery

Plastic surgery offers several treatments to help fight wrinkles. The best option in most cases is a full scale facelift. Patients can also opt for eyelid surgery and even for forehead surgery for a more focused treatment.

These procedures are far more thorough, involving a mechanical smoothing of the skin under the surgeon's knife. They are pricey, but promises long-term results.
